In 2007, Manulife Philippines marked 100 years in the Philippines. Among the oldest insurance firms in the country, Manulife Philippines received its license to operate in Manila in 1907, 20 years after the company was first established in Toronto, Canada in 1887 by Sir John A. Macdonald, who concurrently held the post of Prime Minister of Canada.
