At Manulife, we are committed to minimizing our impact on the environment. The company partners with different environmental organizations in promoting environmental awareness and implementing different programs.
We have received the Wastewi$e Label Level Excellence, one of the prestigious award schemes of the Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence, for our waste reduction and recycling efforts.
We are also proud to be a partner of the WWF Hong Kong, Friends of the Earth and Conservancy Association.
Here are some of the activities and sponsorship initiatives we have undertaken:
Weeding Works at Mai Po
To help conserve the eco-system of the wetland, Manulife also supported the WWF Hong Kong in carrying out volunteers weeding works in Mai Po Nature Reserve twice to clean up the invasive climbers from the fields, enhancing the habitat in this conservation area.
Supporting Walk for Nature
Manulife staff and their family members joined the WWF's annual walkathon "Walk For Nature" in Mai Po in 2009 aiming to raise funds for the conservation and environmental education programs in Hong Kong.
A guided tour was also arranged for our staff to World Wide Fund (WWF) Island House in Taipo, a declared historic heritage where to actively promote education for sustainable development in Hong Kong.
Manulife is also supportive of Green Power Hike, a major annual fund-raising event organized by Green Power dedicated to environmental education and protection. Our Manulife teams have been sweeping the Hong Kong Federation of Insurers (HKFI) Cups for the six consecutive year.
As part of our ongoing environmental efforts, Manulife is proud to support the Friends fo the Earth (HK)'s "Dim it" campgian since its launch in 2008. We also joined the WWF (HK)'s Earth Hour from 2008 to 2010 to show support for the public awareness program on climate change.
