Guy Mills

Chief Executive Officer, Manulife (International) Limited

Guy Mills is Chief Executive Officer of Manulife (International) Limited, overseeing all Manulife’s businesses and distribution in Hong Kong and Macau, except mutual-funds business.

Mr. Mills has some 20 years of practical experience with Manulife since he started in 1995. He has held progressive technology and operations management roles within Manulife’s Canadian, Asian and Corporate divisions including a two-year assignment in Tokyo, Japan, during the first decade of his career at Manulife.

In 2005, Mr. Mills relocated to the Philippines to head up Manulife’s Business Processing Services, the company’s global-resourcing capabilities facility, as its first Chief Executive Officer. He built a world-class global-resourcing practice of more than 2,000 employees located in Manila, Chengdu and Kuala Lumpur over his five-year tenure.

He was then appointed Chief Operating Officer of Manulife’s Asia Division, responsible for operations, customer service, brand development and communications across the region, before moving to China to oversee the company’s life-insurance joint venture.

Before emigrating to Canada and joining Manulife Financial, Mr. Mills held information-technology positions in the United Kingdom with Clerical Medical Investment Group and National Westminster Bank.

He holds an MBA degree from both University of Washington in St. Louis, US, and Fudan University in Shanghai, China.

Ivan Chan

Vice President and Head of Business Development, Distribution Operations, Manulife (International) Limited

Ivan Chan is Vice President and Head of Business Development, Distribution Operations, Hong Kong. Mr. Chan’s key focus will be on expanding Manulife Hong Kong’s individual insurance business and marketing its wide range of insurance products through agency and other distribution channels. He leads Distribution Training and Development and Agency Recruitment and Sales Promotion teams, with the aim of creating greater synergy between the functions supporting the company’s business growth in Hong Kong and Macau. 

Mr. Chan joined Manulife as a Management Trainee in 1999 and took up several roles in individual insurance product marketing and agency operations in both Hong Kong and Macau. In 2011, he was advanced to Chief Agency Development Officer in Manulife Insurance Berhad, Malaysia, overseeing agency development, product development and related marketing functions there. 

Relocating back to Hong Kong in March 2013, Mr. Chan took up the position of Assistant Vice President, Field Management, responsible for managing the sales and recruitment of Manulife’s agency force in Hong Kong and developing strategic directions for the team. In January 2014, he headed up Business Development, Individual Financial Products, contributing to the company’s growth in individual insurance sales in Hong Kong and Macau. 

Mr. Chan was named one of the company’s Global Stars of Excellence in 2015 and has been awarded the Asia Stars of Excellence on two prior occasions. He holds a Master in Business Administration from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and is a Fellow of the Life Management Institute.

Kareen Chow

Vice President and Chief Agency Officer, Manulife (International) Limited

Kareen Chow is Vice President and Chief Agency Officer, Manulife (International) Limited, taking charge of the on-going development of the company’s professional agency force in Hong Kong and Macau. She is also responsible for driving agency productivity and for devising a wide range of programmes to promote its growth. Ms Chow currently oversees the consolidation of field inputs for product enhancement as well as the formulation of sales strategies and incentive schemes for all product launches in Hong Kong.

Ms Chow has been working at Manulife for more than 30 years, during which between 2001 and 2003, she built the agency force from 2,000 to over 3,000 in less than three years, with the number now standing at more than 7,000. Since starting with the company’s Employee Benefits department, she has been promoted to various roles within different functions and departments such as Training, Marketing, Alternative Distribution, and has led Agency recruitment, development and sales promotion functions. In 2008, Ms Chow was named the Star of Excellence - Corporate Honouree of the company. 

Ms Chow holds a Bachelor of Arts degree.  She has received diplomas in insurance-agency administration and customer service from the Life Office Management Association (LOMA). She is also a Fellow Chartered Financial Practitioner (FChFP).

Joseph Chu

Chief Risk Officer, Manulife (International) Limited

Joseph Chu is Chief Risk Officer, Manulife (International) Limited, responsible for overseeing the overall risk profile of Manulife’s Hong Kong operations. This includes promoting a risk-awareness culture, establishing an enterprise risk-management framework, overseeing the risk across the company independently and facilitating effective discussion in the Hong Kong Risk Committee.

He has been with Manulife since 2002, having spent the early years of his career in valuation and pricing functions. Prior to his current appointment in 2013, he was Assistant Vice President & Pricing Officer of the individual insurance business of Hong Kong.

Mr. Chu holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Actuarial Science from the University of Hong Kong and is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries.

Luzia Hung

Senior Vice President and Head of Employee Benefits, Manulife (International) Limited

Luzia Hung is Senior Vice President, Head of Employee Benefits of Manulife Hong Kong, and Chief Executive Officer of Manulife Provident Funds Trust Company Limited. She is leading all Manulife’s pensions and group life and health insurance businesses in Hong Kong.

She is in charge of leading and growing these two businesses and providing direction and business strategy. Her job involves overseeing new product design, pricing, sales and marketing, channel strategy, risk management and new initiatives, and taking leadership role in liaising with the relevant regulatory authorities. Ms Hung is a member of the Hong Kong Senior Management Team.

Under Ms Hung’s leadership, Manulife’s Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) market share grew from 17.4% in September 2010 to a record 19.4% as at December 2015, and its MPF fund platform has become the most comprehensive in Hong Kong with 27 fund choices. In 2015, Manulife announced an agreement with Standard Chartered Bank to acquire its existing pension businesses in Hong Kong and to become its exclusive MPF distribution partner for a 15-year period, subject to regulatory approval. 

Before joining Manulife, Ms Hung worked for a Europe based international insurance and pensions company as its Chief of Pension & Group Business, overseeing both the Pension and Group Insurance Division and was responsible for the distribution, marketing and operations management of the Retirement, Group Medical, Group Life and other general insurance businesses.

Prior to this, Ms Hung worked for a leading global financial institution for 19 years, becoming General Manager and Head of Employee Benefits before moving to Retirement Benefits following the launch of the Mandatory Provident Fund Scheme. Ms Hung spent the earlier part of her career in private bank and multinational corporations.

Ms Hung is a Director of the Manulife Provident Funds Trust Company Limited.  She is also the Chairman of both the  Executive Committee and the Profile and Event Sub-Committee of the Hong Kong Retirement Scheme Association as well as a Life Insurance member for the Hong Kong Federation of Insurers.  She also serves in the Executive Committee of the Insurope network.

Born in Macau and educated in Canada, Ms Hung holds a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) and a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from McMaster University in Canada.

Wilton Kee

Vice President and Chief Product Officer, Individual Financial Products, Manulife (International) Limited

Wilton Kee is Vice President and Chief Product Officer, Individual Financial Products, Manulife (International) Limited. As a member of Manulife Hong Kong’s senior management team, he is responsible for heading up marketing actuarial, product development and finance and management information system function for the individual financial products business, in which he plays an active part in its overall strategy and direction. 

Mr. Kee joined Manulife in 2013 as Assistant Vice President & Pricing Officer, Individual Financial Products, Hong Kong, overseeing its marketing actuarial functions. 

As a key driver in the revitalization of its Hong Kong product portfolio, Mr. Kee has revamped Manulife’s products substantially, making them more customer-focused, competitive and timely to market over the last three years. On top of this, he has been instrumental in helping the company build new bancassurance business by developing unique customer solutions for the clients of some of the leading banks in Hong Kong.

Mr. Kee also has solid experience in actuarial pricing, financial reporting and risk management, both in Hong Kong and Japan. He spent the earlier part of his career in the Asia regional office of a leading international insurance group. 

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Actuarial Science from the University of Hong Kong and is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) of the United States. He has also attained the Financial Risk Manager (FRM) designation issued by the Global Association of Risk Professionals and holds a Certificate in Quantitative Finance (CQF).

Selina Ko

Chief Human Resources Officer, Manulife (International) Limited

Selina Ko is Chief Human Resources Officer, responsible for developing people strategies and leading all strategic initiatives aligned with business priorities. She seeks to build a high performing culture and engaging environment to acquire, develop and retain talented employees. With a passion for nurturing potential and bringing out leadership qualities, Ms Ko is committed to Manulife being the Employer of Choice.

Ms Ko joined Manulife as Assistant Vice President, Human Resources, Asia in 2014. Prior to this she held a number of key human resources roles in Hong Kong, Japan and Greater China at country, regional and group levels. She is a well-seasoned professional with more than 20 years' international experience in various areas, covering retail, wholesale and private banking, technology, mergers and acquisitions, talent development, and leadership coaching. 

Ms Ko holds a Master’s degree and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. She is also a certified strengths and team-effectiveness coach, a trained executive coach and an accredited mediator.

Isabella Lau

Chief Customer Officer, Manulife (International) Limited

Isabella Lau is Chief Customer Officer, Manulife (International) Limited, responsible for Manulife’s Marketing, Customer Relationship Management, Corporate Communications, Innovation and Customer Experience functions, as well as being involved in strategic projects in Hong Kong. Ms Lau drives the company’s continuous effort in customer centricity, particularly in the areas of customer insights/analytics and the ManulifeMOVE program. She also plays a key role in strengthening Manulife’s brand through its marketing, media relations and corporate social-responsibility efforts. 

Ms Lau’s extraordinary leadership qualities, innovative mindset and business acumen have been recognized by the industry with many awards, including Marketer of the Year and a winner of the Distinguished Marketing Leadership Awards at the Hong Kong Management Association (HKMA) and Television Broadcasts Ltd. (TVB) Awards for Marketing Excellence 2016.

Ms Lau has over 20 years’ experience in general management, sales and marketing management in the financial-services industry. She has held senior management roles with Standard Chartered Bank’s credit-card business and was regional marketing head for New Customer Acquisition at American Express. She had been with a leading advertising agency before embarking on a career in financial services. 

Ms Lau holds an MBA degree awarded by the Cass Business School of City University of London and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Hong Kong. She is a member of the Digital Marketing Community of the HKMA.

Rockson Leung

Chief Financial Officer, Manulife (International) Limited

Rockson Leung is Chief Financial Officer, Manulife (International) Limited, responsible for overseeing the financial functions of Manulife’s operations in Hong Kong, including financial reporting, planning and control, capital management and planning, asset-liability management, treasury and other finance-related matters. He is also responsible for the office support functions and plays an active part in the overall strategy and direction of Manulife Hong Kong’s operation. 

Mr. Leung joined Manulife Financial in 2010 as Deputy Chief Financial Officer, Asia, in charge of the region’s actuarial function, including all external actuarial disclosures and capital management. Since 2014, he held the position of Chief Risk Officer, Asia, responsible for overseeing all risks in the region including that pertaining to enterprise, product, market, operations, insurance and underwriting. 

Mr. Leung began his career in Australia and returned to Asia in 1999 and had held various positions with ING Asia, including Chief Insurance Risk Officer of China and Chief Financial Officer of China. Prior to joining Manulife, he was the Deputy Chief Executive and Chief Financial Officer of Bank of China Group Life Insurance Company.

Mr. Leung holds a Bachelor of Economics from Macquarie University of Australia and is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia and Financial Services Institute of Australasia. 

Alvin Li

Vice President, Partnership Distribution, Manulife (International) Limited

Alvin Li is Vice President, Partnership Distribution. He is responsible for overseeing the distribution of Manulife’s products to independent institutions in Hong Kong, spanning banks, brokers and IFAs. He also spearheads marketing initiatives and service support strategies to drive the sales of Manulife’s products via the above partnership distribution channels. Commencing his insurance career in 1985, he worked in Taiwan and Canada as well as Hong Kong and was the chief executive of the life-insurance company of a leading local banking group before joining Manulife. He has held senior positions at various international insurance companies and banks throughout his career. 

Mr. Li holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne in England and is a Fellow of the Life Management Institute.

Lawrence Nutting

Chief Distribution Officer, Manulife (International) Limited

Lawrence Nutting is Chief Distribution Officer, Manulife (International) Limited and is on the Board of Manulife Provident Funds Trust Company Limited. He heads up all Manulife’s distribution channels in Hong Kong, covering the agency force and partnership distribution including banks, brokers and independent financial advisors. Mr. Nutting plays a key role in further increasing Manulife’s distribution capacity in the territory.

With extensive expertise in distribution management, Mr. Nutting has more than 30 years of experience in insurance marketing. He joined Manulife Hong Kong as Assistant Vice President, Regional Agency Development and Training, Asia in January 2003, responsible for heading the Manulife University for agency-management development and regional-agency training functions. 

He then transferred to Manulife-Sinochem in August 2004 as Vice President China Agency Development and subsequently General Manager of the Shanghai Branch. Under his leadership, the Branch became the leader in terms of agency sales in Shanghai among foreign-invested insurers.

Mr. Nutting holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education and a Master of Business Administration. He has received the designations of Certified Financial Planner, Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant. He is also a Fellow of the Life Management Institute.

Andrew Tiernan

Head of Strategy, Head of Project Management Office, Manulife (International) Limited

Andrew Tiernan is both the Head of Strategy and of the Head of Project Management Office at Manulife (International) Limited. As a member of Manulife Hong Kong’s Senior Management Team, Mr. Tiernan plays a leading role in the businesses overall strategy development. He is also responsible for prioritization and governance of the project portfolio for Hong Kong. 

Mr. Tiernan has extensive expertise in banking, insurance, pensions and investments. He has a proven track record ranging from business implementation, corporate engagement, reorganizations to advice-based customer value propositions. 

Prior to joining Manulife, he was a Hong Kong-based Head of Strategy, Asia for an Australian bank. He also held senior management positions at a wealth management company, including as General Manager, Development based in Beijing and as Head of Income Streams in Sydney. These roles honed his abilities in strategy development and implementation, capability assessments, market entry, governance and establishing new business lines.

Mr. Tiernan holds a Bachelor of Business degree from the University of Technology, Sydney, and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Michael Ting

Chief Legal and Compliance Officer, Manulife (International) Limited

Michael Ting is Chief Legal and Compliance Officer, Manulife (International) Limited. He heads up the Hong Kong legal and compliance functions at Manulife. In his new role, he builds and maintains the overall legal and compliance framework of the company. He provides legal and compliance advice to the senior management team that is essential to the planning and execution of Manulife’s business strategies. 

Mr. Ting has more than 20 years of solid and extensive experience in legal and compliance areas. Prior to joining Manulife, he held various senior legal and/or compliance positions at local or regional level with various major life insurers in Hong Kong.  

He holds a Juris Doctor degree from the United States and is a qualified lawyer in Hong Kong, the United States and the United Kingdom. He started off his career in private practice as a litigator for insurance companies.

Mark Van Den Broek

Chief Information Officer & Chief Operations Officer, Manulife (International) Limited

Mark Van den Broek is Chief Information Officer & Chief Operations Officer of Manulife (International) Limited. As a member of Manulife Hong Kong’s senior management team, he is responsible for leading the company’s information technology and digital execution strategies, as well as operations services including Business Analysis and Solution Design and Customer and Distribution Contact Centre Service functions. Mark also spearheads the Portfolio Management and Delivery Services to help accelerate the company’s project delivery effectiveness.

Being a core member of the Asia IT and operations leadership team, Mark also provides vision and leadership for developing and implementing information technology and customer service initiatives at the regional level.

Mark has more than 18 years of experience in IT and operations, with expertise spanning investment management, wealth management, life, health, and property and casualty insurance domains. Before joining Manulife, he held a number of senior management positions, most recently as regional chief information officer of AXA Asia, responsible for its IT strategy, delivery, security and operations for all Business units across the Asia region.

Mark holds a first-class honours degree in Business Studies from Imperial College London. He is also a holder of the Investment Management Certificate (IMC).
