Manulife Expands Hospital Access Across Mainland China, Encompassing Over 38,000 Public and Private Hospitals

Hong Kong – Manulife Hong Kong and Macau (“Manulife”) today announced an expansion in the number of hospitals accessible under its individual medical plans across Mainland China, now encompassing over 38,0001 public and private hospitals2. All of Manulife’s medical plans, except the Cancer Treatment Benefit, will now cover eligible medical expenses3 incurred at any public or private hospital2 in Mainland China. Customers covered by any Manulife medical plan4 can access medical services at any public or private hospital2 across the Mainland, according to their individual needs. This enhancement significantly increases the ease and flexibility of seeking cross-border medical treatment, enabling customers to receive timely and appropriate care, while strengthening Manulife’s strong market position in facilitating hospital access across Mainland China.

As demand for cross-border healthcare continues to grow, Manulife is committed to advancing its health protection offerings by providing customers with more comprehensive access to hospitals across Mainland China, thereby reinforcing its customer-centric commitment.

Additionally, Manulife has extended its Credit Service for Hospitalization5,6,7 to over 8008 designated public and private hospitals in Mainland China. This means customers can receive treatment without worrying about upfront payments upon admission, allowing them to focus fully on their recovery. This enhancement further elevates the overall medical experience and underscores Manulife’s commitment to delivering seamless and reassuring health protection.

The “ManuMaster Healthcare Series/Benefit” and “ManuShine Healthcare Series/Benefit” are available as basic plans or supplementary benefits.

6 The Credit Service for Hospitalization is a special administrative arrangement, not a product feature, nor part of any Voluntary Health Insurance Scheme (VHIS) certified plan, and is subject to terms and conditions. Whether this service can be arranged in Mainland China will depend on various factors and circumstances. For public hospitals in Mainland China, this service currently applies only to cases where there are no deductibles or out-of-pocket expenses. For private hospitals in Mainland China, the insured may be required to settle any deductible and/or net balance exceeding the pre-authorized amount upon discharge from the hospital. Once the hospital invoice is received and the claims assessment is completed, Manulife will notify the customer of any shortfall for payment, if any. Manulife reserves the right to terminate this service at any time without prior notice.

7 The Credit Service for Hospitalization is provided by a third party. Manulife makes no representation, warranty or undertaking as to the availability of and/or any service of the third party. Manulife shall not be liable to the policyowner or the life insured in any respect of any loss, damage, expense, suit, action or proceedings suffered or incurred by the policyowner or the life insured, whether directly or indirectly, arising from or in connection with the services provided (including, but not limited to, the Credit Service for Hospitalization) or advice given by the third party and/or its agents, or the availability of such services. In case of any dispute, the policyowner or the life insured should settle it with the third party directly.

8 Figures are as of August 11, 2025. Manulife reserves the right to review and update the list of hospitals offering the Credit Service for Hospitalization at its sole discretion from time to time without prior notice.
