Manulife Asia and Ant Health sign MOU to build the future of connected healthcare

The collaboration aims to remove hurdles between customers and healthcare, through cross-boundary solutions, beginning in the Hong Kong SAR and the Chinese Mainland, in support of Manulife’s strategic priority to empower customer health, wealth and longevity.

For Immediate Release

September 7, 2026

HONG KONG – Manulife Financial Asia Limited ("Manulife Asia") and AHA Healthcare Technology HK Limited ("Ant Health") today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (“MOU”) to explore ways to make healthcare simpler to find, access and pay for.

The MOU sets out a framework for the two companies to explore collaboration in health management services, cross-boundary healthcare support, digital health capabilities, and insurance technology. These areas of collaboration seek to address the often fragmented cross-boundary healthcare experience, where customers must navigate the journey on their own, make multiple enquiries, and manually coordinate different steps before, during and after treatment.

Under the MOU, the companies will explore new ways to strengthen the health ecosystem and better support customers throughout their health journey.

"This collaboration reflects a shared belief that access to healthcare should be simpler, more connected and centred around the needs of customers. By combining our respective strengths, we will explore how to create a more seamless healthcare journey for customers,” said Steve Finch, President & CEO of Manulife Asia. “At Manulife, we believe better access to healthcare is fundamental to improving long-term health outcomes and supports our goals to help customers enjoy better health and greater independence throughout their lives."

"The integration of health insurance and health services has become a major trend in enhancing users' medical service experience and improving their overall health and well-being. Through this collaboration with Manulife Asia, we look forward to exploring more convenient and compassionate cross-boundary health services for customers, advancing our long-term vision of 'making healthcare simpler and lives healthier', and contributing to the development of a 'Healthy Greater Bay Area'," said Zhang Junjie, Vice President of Ant Group and Head of the Health Business.

The areas of collaboration set out in the MOU include:

  • Health management services for Manulife customers in the Hong Kong SAR and the Chinese Mainland, including exploring case management and concierge support, medical network and patient services
  • Insurance technology, including exploring health value-added services, design support and cross-boundary claims and payment support.
  • Other areas by mutual agreement, including health insights, industry research and standards

The MOU is regional in scope. The Hong Kong SAR and the Chinese Mainland are the first markets to be explored; the companies intend to explore extending the collaboration to customers in other Asia markets over time.
