For Immediate Release
Hong Kong - Manulife has long demonstrated its commitment to making lives better by fostering a welcoming and equitable workplace while spearheading innovative initiatives that make communities healthier and more inclusive. Last year, Manulife partnered with non-profit organisation Share for Good to launch its first "Future Mumpowered" employment enhancement program that is tailored to empower mothers in Hong Kong. The program won distinguished enterprise and financial education awards1, and brought extraordinary changes to participating mothers.
Drawing on these valuable experiences and achievements, Manulife has once again partnered with Share for Good to launch the next phase of the initiative, "Future PoweredUp". This enhanced program introduces FLEX, a new digital job-matching platform designed to support mothers returning to the workforce while also creating opportunities to early retirees aged 50 to 65. With strong backing from a network of international and local companies, as well as non-profit organisations, the program offers a wide range of flexible roles, fostering a more inclusive and supportive work culture. In addition, the FLEX platform features tailored financial and wellness education resources that equip participants with practical knowledge and tips to make informed decisions and improve their quality of life.
Manulife Injects New Energy to the Program – Launch Event Set to Take Place at Kai Tak Arena
The launch ceremony for “Future PoweredUp” took place today at Kai Tak Arena. Officiating guests included Ms. CHAN Lai Chu, Assistant Director of the Social Welfare Department; Mrs. Jennifer Yu Cheng, Director of Share for Good; Mr. Calvin Chiu, Head of Retirement, Asia, Manulife and Chief Executive Officer, Manulife Investment Management (Hong Kong) and Ms. Jeanie Ho, Head of Hong Kong and Macau Retirement, Manulife.
Share for Good has long upheld the philosophy of “creating shared value”, partnering with leading organisations to harness innovative strengths and introduce creative services that address social needs and uplift diverse and underrepresented communities. On this occasion, Share for Good has created the bespoke Enhanced Workplace Empowerment Program “Future PoweredUp” to meet the specific need for flexible working hours among mothers and early retirees.
Mrs. Jennifer Yu Cheng, Director of Share for Good, said: “Building on last year’s success, we have collaborated with Manulife, multiple companies, and charities to launch an enhanced version of the program. With an array of new elements, the program aspires to help more women and early retirees return to the workplace with skillsets refreshed and daily-life pressures addressed. We are glad to see that the program is supporting the crucial needs of Hong Kong's talent pool by injecting new energy into the workforce. Participants will also be able to cultivate new personal and social relationships and enhance their holistic well-being, fully empowered to shine with confidence in both family and the workplace with a clear sense of purpose.”
Ms. Jeanie Ho, Head of Hong Kong and Macau Retirement, Manulife, said: “With Manulife continuing to be “People’s Choice” in Hong Kong2, we are investing additional resources and introducing further enhancements to the program this year. Not only are we extending the program to benefit early retirees for the first time, we are also strengthening this one-stop employment support initiative, in our collaboration with Share for Good. From job matching, pre-employment and on-the-job training to personalised guidance and support, we encourage every mother and early retiree to continue cultivating their potentials and contributing to society. This commitment lies at the heart of our ‘Impact Agenda’ to drive inclusive economic opportunities, helping program participants forge a better and financially independent future.”
Manulife Provides Wellness and Financial Workshops to Help Prepare for Workforce Re-entry
The first phase of Enhanced Workplace Empowerment Program “Future PoweredUp” targets 500 women from grassroots communities and early retirees. This year also marks the debut of FLEX, a new digital job-matching platform that simplifies registration and removes traditional “resume barriers”. Participants can access part-time, contract or other flexible roles without tailoring their resumes, reducing psychological barriers around job applications and interviews.
Manulife and Share for Good will provide participants with a series of wellness and financial literacy workshops, inviting celebrities and distinguished guests to share insights and help them prepare for their return to the workforce.
This year, the program has received support from a wide range of organisations and companies, including 15 international and local companies offering 100 job placements, as well as 11 non-profit organisations (see the attached table). Many have introduced family-friendly measures, such as flexible Customer Service Officer positions at West Kowloon Cultural District Authority, Store Picker roles at pandamart, and free security-certificate training by Clement Shield.
Numerous local social enterprises have also joined the program in 2025. For instance, Mealingful, which specialises in soft meals for the elderly, will hire participants to help host workshops on dining with dignity. Retrovert, a community second-hand clothing platform promoting green fashion, will offer trainings on upcycle and sustainable fashion knowledge, allowing the participants to regain confidence and become school-based and corporate-based event facilitators. These pre-employment and on-the-job trainings enable participants to stay current in the work field, and create win-win outcomes for both them and the social enterprises.
