January 26, 2018

Hong Kong – Manulife Hong Kong was a big winner in the first ever IFPHK Financial Education Leadership Awards 2018, an industry contest organized by the Institute of Financial Planners of Hong Kong (IFPHK) in collaboration with Metro Finance to pay tribute to organizations that have made significant efforts in improving financial literacy in Hong Kong.

“As a leading financial services organization, Manulife believes it is our responsibility to help safeguard the financial health and wellness of our community,” said Guy Mills, Chief Executive Officer of Manulife Hong Kong. “Over the years, Manulife has been very active in promoting the importance of financial and retirement planning, and we are so proud to be a major winner in this inaugural presentation ceremony taking home a total of four awards in recognition of our leadership in financial education across different categories.”

The accolades Manulife Hong Kong has received are:

  • Best Corporate Financial Education Leadership of the Year
  • Accredited Professional Financial Planning Firm
  • Corporate Financial Education Leadership – Gold Award
  • Corporate Volunteer Team in Financial Education – Gold Award

IFPHK Financial Education Leadership Awards recognize organizations that provide public financial education, services and advice to the community for free. Testament to Manulife’s efforts in this area are its on-going efforts in providing the public with free, useful information and resources through traditional channels such as printed brochures, investment seminars and workshops, as well as digital platforms including social media. A recent example is the launch of nine webisodes on retirement topics to encourage Hong Kong’s “dual-income-no-kids” couples to think early for retirement planning; these webisodes also form part of the company’s longstanding Retirement Solutions Campaign

Designed to acknowledge outstanding performances, the awards were handed out based on the number of criteria met, the number of designated professionals being hired as well as the number of agents/employees enrolling as Citizen Volunteers in Financial Education. Entries with financial education tasks invested, undertaken or completed between January 1, 2016 and June 30, 2017 were assessed on their innovation, dedication and commitment by a judging panel comprised of IFPHK's board members and experienced CFPCM professionals.
