Manulife launches two new savings plans

Guaranteed cash payments for up to 100 years;
Option to pass on guaranteed cash flows to future generations

Hong Kong – Manulife Hong Kong has announced the launch of La Vie 2 and ManuCentury, two comprehensive savings plans that provide regular payouts to help customers satisfy diverse needs and goals. With guaranteed cash payments equal to 5% of the notional amount every year, the plans enable customers at different life stages to be confident of the lifetime financial stability they can secure for themselves or their future generations.

Riding on the success of La Vie, one of Manulife’s flagship savings products, La Vie 2 offers customers extra benefits to help them realize their dreams. Tailored for those who prefer a regular income stream with the potential to accelerate savings towards a secure future, La Vie 2 provides annual guaranteed cash payments starting from the plan's 1st policy anniversary up to age 100, and a non-guaranteed terminal bonus to help customers generate higher potential returns.

ManuCentury is designed for those who are seeking a solution that allows them to pass their wealth to their loved ones. It offers additional flexibility for customers to enjoy regular payouts for up to 100 years and an option to change the life insured. Together, these two features will help customers ensure their second – or even third – generation enjoys the fruits of their wealth.

At Manulife, we understand that customers are looking for savings solutions that help meet their needs across different life stages. With the launch of our two new products, we are bringing customers a regular annual income stream plus lifetime financial stability. In particular, customers of our ManuCentury plan can choose how long the regular income will be paid according to their goals and circumstances, not only for themselves but also for their loved ones.”

In addition to guaranteed regular cash payments, both plans offer a range of benefits designed to give customers maximum flexibility and returns:

  • Terminal bonus to potentially boost long-term savings: Both policies offer a non-guaranteed terminal bonus to boost potential returns. This is a one-off benefit payable by the end of the policy life or if the insured individual passes away.
  • Lock in terminal bonus for extra liquidity with a recurring realization limit: Starting from the 15th policy anniversary, and on every policy anniversary thereafter, customers can lock in up to 50% of the terminal bonus to secure long-term gains. These gains can either be withdrawn in cash to help attain personal goals, or retained in the policy to earn higher interest returns. What’s more, the realization percentage of each individual lock-in can be restored after 15 policy years. That means customers can create an extra stream of funds by allocating the 50% realization limit evenly over every 15 policy years.
  • Change of life insured option for passing on wealth (ManuCentury only): Customers have the option to change the life insured to another loved one, enabling wealth to be passed on through one or more generations.
  • Four premium payment period options: Customers can select from four premium payment periods – 5, 8, 12 or 15 years – according to their financial needs, making it easier for them to budget for their future.
  • Extra peace of mind when it comes to accidental death, and optional benefits: In addition to life protection, if Standard Life Protection option of La Vie 2 or ManuCentury is chosen and the insured individual passes away due to an accident within the first five policy years, an additional Accidental Death Benefit is payable to help offset any unexpected financial hardship faced by their family. Under both plans, customers can also add other benefits, including accident, critical illness, disability and medical provisions for more worry-free protection.

Manulife has reviewed and revised the relevant product information of Manulife’s VHIS certified plans upon the VHIS Office’s request, and has revised the Chinese version of the certified plans’ policy provisions accordingly.
