How does it work?

Thankful Care Personal Accident Insurance Plan supports you and your loved ones through life’s uncertainties with three key features:

  • Accident protection

If the life insured suffers accidental death, loss of use or dismemberment and/or total disablement, the plan will pay up to 100% of the notional amount1,2,3,4,5.

  • Double Indemnity for designated accident events

If the life insured be injured in a designated accident event and this results in accidental death, loss of use or dismemberment and/or total disablement,

we will double the payouts (please refer to the benefit table in the product brochure), providing more dependable protection when it matters most.

  • Cash Benefit for non accidental death or policy surrender or lapse

If the life insured passes away from a non-accidental cause or if the policy is surrendered or lapses—a Cash Benefit (see the benefit table in the product brochure) of up to 105% of total applicable premiums will be payable6,7 .

Life can change in an instant, in the unfortunate event of accidental death, loss of use or dismemberment and/ or total disablement, we will pay up to 100% of the notional amount1,2,3,4,5 to help you and your loved ones move forward with confidence.

You can’t always control what happens around you. That’s why we double the payout for accidental death, loss of use or dismemberment and/ or total disablement if the life insured is injured in a designated accident event giving you stronger, more dependable protection when it matters most.

If the life insured passes away due to a non-accidental cause, or if the policy is surrendered or lapses, a Cash Benefit of up to 105% of the total applicable premiums will be payable6,7, giving you peace of mind when it matters most.

Thankful Care Personal Accident Insurance Plan is a non-participating whole life accident insurance product provided and underwritten by Manulife. The above provides only general information on this product for your reference only. Please download the product brochure now or ask your Insurance/Financial Advisor for a copy which will give you more details about this product including the ‘Other product disclosures’ showing the product risks.

  1. We will pay the Accidental Death Benefit or Loss of Use or Dismemberment Benefit or Total Disablement Benefit if the bodily injury results in death, loss of use or dismemberment or total disablement of the life insured within 180 days from the date of the accident. 
  2. The aggregate amount payable under the Accidental Death Benefit, Loss of Use or Dismemberment Benefit and Total Disablement Benefit will not exceed 100% of the notional amount. Any amount paid or payable under the Loss of Use or Dismemberment Benefit and/or Total Disablement Benefit will reduce the Accidental Death Benefit accordingly.
  3. The aggregate of the Loss of Use or Dismemberment Benefit, and Total Disablement Benefit will not exceed 100% of the notional amount. Each benefit is payable only up to the remaining balance of the notional amount after reducing any amount already paid or payable under either benefit. 
  4. If the life insured is left-handed, the percentage for the various disabilities of the right hand and left hand under the Loss of Use or Dismemberment Benefit will be swapped. A covered injury to the same body part will only be indemnified once, even if it falls within the description of more than one item under the benefit table.
  5. We will pay the Total Disablement Benefit if the bodily injury results in total disablement of the life insured within 180 days from the date of the accident.  Payment will begin after the disablement has continued for 12 consecutive months and is continuous and permanent at the end of that period. The benefit will cease if the total disablement ceases or if the life insured dies.
  6. If the notional amount is ever reduced, the Total Applicable Premiums for the purpose of calculating the Cash Benefit will also be reduced in the same proportion as the reduction in the notional amount.
  7. If your policy ends because of death (other than accidental death), surrender or lapse, we will pay you a percentage of the Total Applicable Premiums based on the number of completed policy years immediately before the policy ends. For partial surrender, we will pay a proportional Cash Benefit and your policy’s notional amount and future benefits will be reduced accordingly.  Any incomplete policy year will not be counted. 
  8. This is an administrative arrangement and is not part of the product features. International Medical Assistance (for Hong Kong or Macau residents) and Worldwide Emergency Assistance (for non-Hong Kong or non-Macau residents) are provided by an independent contractor and are not our agents. Manulife shall not be responsible and/or liable for any services, advice or treatment or other acts or omissions of medical service providers. Manulife shall not be liable for any acts or omissions of any other service providers. Manulife reserves the right to change our designated medical services provider(s) for each service from time to time, or revise or terminate these services at any time without prior notice.
