Underwriting Arrangement
Application for a VHIS policy is subject to underwriting. Manulife may offer standard rate, impose additional premium and/or apply case-based exclusion(s) or decline the application based on the following factors, material facts and information of the proposed insured person:
If you are the policy holder of any one of the medical protection insurance plans/benefits below and the insured person is a holder of Hong Kong Identity Card, you can choose to migrate your existing plan/benefit ("Original Coverage") to our VHIS certified plans with re-underwriting. For further details regarding the migration arrangement, please contact your Financial Advisor or call our Customer Service Hotline at (852) 2510 3941.
Medical Protection Insurance Plan(s) / Benefit(s) entitled for migration ("Applicable Plan(s)")
Remarks:
1Except for ManuMaster Healthcare Series/Benefit and ManuShine Healthcare Series/Benefit policies issued before February 17, 2020, where policy holders can choose to migrate such Original Coverage to Manulife Supreme VHIS Flexi Plan with re-underwriting.
Transfer of Policy Ownership
The policy holder may request for the Transfer of Policy Ownership after the VHIS policy is issued. Transfer of Policy Ownership can be applied once per year. The policy holder should contact us for the details of the terms and conditions and the applicable forms to be filled in.
Eligibility for Tax Deduction
In order to be qualify for claiming tax deduction, the following requirements shall be met:

The tax deduction becomes effective in the year of assessment commencing on 1 April 2019 and to all subsequent years of assessment. Policy issued under VHIS Certified Plan that are effective and with premium paid on or after 1 April 2019 are eligible for the tax deduction. An "Annual Premium Statement" (with premium payment date^ shown) will be provided by us for each year of assessment (i.e. from 1 April of the year to 31 March of the following year) as the supporting document for tax deduction.
^Premium payment date refers to the premium due date. In the event of premium overdue, the premium payment date refers to the date on which the overdue premium is received and applied to the policy.
