Manulife Hong Kong and Macau has recently identified fraudulent emails impersonating our company. The sender shown in these emails is: 香港MAFIEL <mafiel.sunwg-warpservices.co.za@shared1.ccsend.com>. Please note that these emails and their contents were not issued by Manulife.

The emails claim that a “premium recalculation has been completed” and that a credit balance is available for withdrawal. Recipients are asked to select a payment method via an online platform within 12 hours, failing which the amount will become invalid.

If you receive such emails, please do not click on any links or provide any personal or financial information, and delete the email immediately.

We have also observed similar fraudulent attempts through SMS. Please be cautious of suspicious SMS messages. Manulife will only send SMS to Hong Kong mobile numbers using a Registered SMS Sender ID that begins with "#Manulife." If you receive any SMS or links that appear suspicious or claim to be from Manulife, please do not reply, click, or open any links within the message.

Manulife would like to clarify that we will never request customers to provide credit card details or any sensitive personal information via email, SMS or embedded links, nor will we arrange any time-limited payment or collection requests through such means.

Protect your personal data by keeping your Manulife customer website login password safe and change your password regularly. Manulife will never call you or send any SMS/email asking for your Manulife customer website login password. Stay vigilant for suspicious phone calls, emails, websites, apps and hyperlinks embedded in instant electronic messages, etc. allegedly related to Manulife. If you receive any calls claiming to be from Manulife, authenticate the caller’s identity (e.g. full name of the advisor and his/her Insurance/MPF Intermediary License No. or full name of the Manulife customer service officer). If the caller refuses to disclose such information, please do not continue with the conversation. Also, if you notice any suspicious transaction activities in your account with Manulife, or any account that is under your name but not set up by you, please inform us immediately. What is IncomeGuard Critical Illness Protector?

IncomeGuard Critical Illness Protector is designed to alleviate worries about being unable to work and the potential income loss that can result from a critical illness by offering essential and continuous income support during challenging times. It helps ensure financial well-being with a steady benefit payout that can be available as often as annually for cancer, heart attack (myocardial infarction) and stroke diagnosis and treatment.

How we got you covered?

  • Coverage for up to 121 critical illnesses and diseases including 60 major critical illnesses, 44 early stage critical illnesses and 17 juvenile diseases
  • Up to 100% extra critical illnesses coverage for the first 10 policy years1

When you are fighting against cancer, heart attack and stroke, the plan provides you with coverages on diagnosis and continuous treatments, up to 1,000% of the notional amount2. Each payout can be up to 100% of the notional amount and available as often as annually, serving as a steady income support.

Under the benefit of traditional Chinese medicine for cancer treatment, you can receive reimbursement3 for traditional Chinese medicines, acupuncture or tui na treatments.

We will waive the premiums of the basic plan if you are unfortunately diagnosed with major critical illness, early stage critical illness and juvenile disease4.

We will pay a protection restore benefit5 for the benefit paid for early stage critical illness and juvenile disease if the insured has a major critical illness or passes away before the age of 85.

The premium you pay is guaranteed and will not increase throughout the premium payment period.

IncomeGuard Critical Illness Protector is a critical illness insurance product provided and underwritten by Manulife (International) Limited. The above provides only general information on this product for your reference only. Please download the product leaflet now or ask your Insurance/Financial Advisor for a copy which will give you more details about this product including the ‘Important Information’ showing the product risks.

  1. The aggregate amount of extra critical illness benefits of early stage critical illness benefit and juvenile disease critical illness benefit cannot exceed 80% of the basic plan notional amount.
  2. Benefit payouts of up to 1,000% of the notional amount include (1) major critical illness benefit, (2) cancer diagnosis benefit, (3) cancer continuous treatment benefit, (4) heart attack /stroke continuous care benefit and (5) heart attack /stroke continuous treatment benefit.
  3. We will reimburse the reasonable and customary charges actually incurred for traditional Chinese medicines, acupuncture and tui na treatment charged by the Chinese medical practitioner for the covered cancer (i.e. carcinoma-in-situ or cancer), up to HK$650/US$82 per visit, with a maximum of 60 visits and one visit per day.
  4. Once we have paid a major critical illness benefit, we will waive all future premiums of the basic plan after the diagnosis date of the critical illness. Also, once we have paid an early stage critical illness benefit or a juvenile disease critical illness benefit, we will waive 12 months premium of the basic plan starting from the premium due date immediately after the diagnosis date of such illness. If the life insured is subsequently diagnosed with early stage critical illness or juvenile disease, and early stage critical illness benefit or juvenile disease critical illness benefit has been paid, any newly approved premium waiver that overlaps with the existing premium waiver will replace the previous premium waiver and the existing premium waiver will be terminated. The early stage critical illness and juvenile disease premium waiver will be terminated automatically if the major critical illness premium waiver is approved.
  5. The amount of protection restore benefit is the amount of early stage critical illness benefit and / or juvenile disease critical illness benefit paid under the plan where the date(s) of diagnosis of the early stage critical illnesses and / or juvenile diseases fall(s) at least 1 year before the date of diagnosis of the subsequent major critical illness or the date of death.
  6. We guarantee that the basic plan premiums for the initial basic plan notional amount remain unchanged throughout the premium payment period. However, we do not guarantee that the premium and guaranteed cash value due to an increase in the basic plan notional amount, including those increases triggered by using the inflation protector option.
  7. CancerCompanion Service is a value-added service provided by Manulife and does not form part of the contractual benefits. Manulife reserves the right to change the designated medical service provider(s) for any of the services from time to time, or revise or terminate these services at any time without prior notice. Manulife shall not be liable for any acts or omissions of medical service providers. For the avoidance of doubt, the use of the service does not imply any expenses or diagnoses associated with the service are covered in the insurance policy(ies).
